why is hematite Fe3O4

Question:

ore of iron is Fe3O4(3,4 are to be written in bases)

simple question

how can ithis fomula exist...when oxygen dnt have a valency of 3 and iron dnt have a valency of 4?

Answers:

FeO+Fe203----> Fe3O4

Its magnetite not Hematite

The formula for magnetite may also be written as FeO·Fe2O3, which is one part FeO and one part hematite (Fe2O3)

you never get the ore of iron in the form of Fe3o4 , because it's a theoritical idea & which is unstable also..always u get either in the form of Feo or Fe2o3 as last answer says.
